A Healthy Basic Salad Dressing

Updated: Jan 7

Salad dressings are one of those foods that contain hidden and poor quality ingredients that can honestly ruin your healthy salad. Those ingredients you want to avoid are:

  • poor quality oils: soybean and canola are typically what you find. These are typically GMO, highly refined and oxidized, they are high in omega-6 fatty acids (which we do need, but we get way too much of) which cause inflammation

  • added sugar

  • thickeners, for example carrageenan, which is an ingredient you want to avoid as some studies have shown a link to inflammation, bloating, irritable bowel syndrome, glucose intolerance, colon cancer, and food allergies. It's found in several foods, so check your labels.

Luckily, salad dressings are simple and quick to make. You can make a healthy dressing in 5 minutes. In this video I show you the steps.

Here are the ingredients I used:

  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil

  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar (I used my fire cider I made)

  • 1 teaspoon sea salt

  • 3 tablespoons nutritional yeast

  • 4 cloves garlic

  • add any additional herbs of your choosing

Wisk to combine and store in a glass jar.

Enjoy!
